About Zvegor
Zvegor is a village in the vicinity of the border crossing between Macedonia and Bulgaria, near Delcevo. As a settlement it dates back to pre-history. The village has been urbanized and people still cherish the old crafts (barrel production, production of musical instruments, embroidery, etc.)

How to reach Zvegor?
Zvegor is immediately next to Delcevo (2 kilometers away), while Delcevo is 173 kilometers from Skopje, on the international motorway Delcevo- Blagoevgrad. There is a regular bus line running from Skopje and from other towns close to Delcevo. From Delcevo to Zvegor you will need to take a taxi.

Where can one stay overnight?
25 people can be accommodated in private B&B rooms in the village itself during the whole year. In Delcevo there are several tourist facilities opened throughout the year or during different seasons such as the hotels „Makedonija” „Kula“, „Granit“, motel „Komi Kalaj“, as well as the holiday resort on Mountain Golak. Accommodation can also be found in several other holiday resorts (Delcevo Tabak, Tehnozavod Trade Union and Frotirka).

Local particularities
Of course, the most authentic particularity of Zvegor is the so-called Surva – carnival with masks organized each year on the 14th January. The carnival takes place during the day, whereas during the night all inhabitants celebrate together. Another interesting custom is the Easter fast, with big bonfires and visitors joining the traditional „head throwing“.
When you come to Zvegor, you must visit Metodi Zlatkov, one of the rare producers of folk instruments in Macedonia. You must hear him play the back-pipe or the pipe. In the village, there is a barrel-producer as well, and women weave woollen products and make embroideries with beads. Visitors should taste the Pijanec cuisine with the following specialties: palenta with curdled milk, different type of pies (with cabbage or pork intestines) – traditionally made for the carnival Zvegorska Surva.

What Do the Surroundings Offer?
The pre-historic locality Skokoto and Gradiste, the archaeological site dating back to 3rd - 6th century are very close. You must visit the Pijenc churches in the villages Dramce, Istevnik, Selnik and the location Kukulje in Nov Istevnik.
A particularly interesting natural location is Ilin Kamen, for which local inhabitants believe healing powers. In the vicinity of Zvegor, along the Zvegor River, there are several active watermills.
