Project description
Women from Dobroste, Neraste, and Tearce were attending a course in weaving and learning how to make traditional items such as aprons, covers, rugs, etc.. They were associating and working, and that brought women and families from various ethnic groups closer to each other. Developed items were presented at an exhibition in the village, and women were presenting some of their techniques, by working on looms. The course also meant promotion of environmental culture as most of the materials used included textile waste pieces from the nearby plant.

 About Debroste
The village of Dobroste is located at a 15-kilometre distance from Tetovo. It is situated at 500 metres above the sea level. It has 5000 inhabitants of which 5% are Macedonians and the rest are Albanians. There is a primary school in the village, and several sports terrains developed with support from foreign humanitarian aid.
The fresh Sar Planina (mountain) air (breeze blowing even during greatest summer heats; in the evenings you have to wear a sweater if you wish to sit outside in the open), ample green coming from vegetation; the comforting silence mixed with sounds coming from animals each house keeps (cows, chicken, dogs) are part of the specific atmosphere of Dobroste.
How to reach Dobroste?
You can reach the village driving a vehicle on the asphalted road. There are buses driving from Tetovo, but communication is made even easier due to the existence of private vans departing each 10-15 minutes from a spot called “Potok” near the music school, in the central area of the Tetovo town.
 Where to stay overnight?
At the very entrance of the neighbouring village of Neraste there is a motel, and you can also stay overnight in the “Berlin” hotel in the nearby village of Prsovce. Of course, you can stay overnight also in one of the many hotels in the town of Tetovo.
Local specifics
Let us mention a few of the specialties in this region: the “fli” layered pie in combination with home-made yogurt, as well as the widely known Tetovo beans with dried peppers, the “baklava” sweets with nuts…There are some other specialties you can try in the “Prince” restaurant and in a restaurant having its own fishpond in the vicinity, in the village of Odri, under thick treetops near a fast spring.
What can you see in the surroundings?
According to Turkish historical documents, a part of this place's history dates from 1453. Visit the mosque that is some 350 years old, and a church with interesting architecture. Out of formerly existing five mills, there is only one mill currently well-preserved; it still works, illustrating a part of past times.
