LIVING HERITAGE - Network Community Development Through Cultural Resources
The Living Heritage programme supports local initiatives aiming at protection, use and presentation of cultural heritage as a resource for sustainable community development. The programme offers technical assistance, carries out training, provides grants for projects, organizes awareness rising campaigns and encourages exchange of experiences. The programme started in Macedonia in 2000, initiated by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) from Belgium. Later, it was extended to Bulgaria, Romania and Bosnia & Herzegovina. So far, 31 projects have been supported in Macedonia with budget of $ 540.000 (for the 2000-2005), donated by the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM) and the KBF. At the beginning of 2004, the project teams established the Living Heritage Network, aiming to affirm the programme, the projects and the local communities involved, to exchange experiences and knowledge and to cooperate in various fields of common interest. The Network is being managed by Ivan Dodovski (on leave from September 2005) and Marijana Ivanova from FOSIM. Further development of the Network is planned by the advisory group members: Zivko Popovski, Cvetanka Sundovska, Slobodanka Dueva and Katerina Bogoeva. The Network relies on capacities of the consultants/facilitators: Francois Matarraso (UK), Vera Dakova (Bulgaria), as well as Gordan Nikolov, Igor Slavkovski, Bardhyl Marku and Dragi Pop Stojanov (Macedonia).
The principles and philosophy of the Living Heritage are shared by a reference group called "Friends of the Living Heritage": Toni Avramov, Ljupcho Anastasov, Kristina Biceva, Anica Gorgieva, Aleksandar Krzalovski, Elizabeta Koneska, Ljupcho Melovski, Jordan Mihajlovski, Nikola Naumov, Risto Paligora, Ljupcho Risteski, Aneta Svetieva, Sanja Frkovich, Ida Hrisoho-Lozanovski, Boban Husenovski, Vane Sekulov, Ermis Lafazanovski, Gorgi Hadziev, Tome Trajkov, Tina Atanasovska, Sasho Bakracheski, Biljana Milanovska, Despina Kokalanoska, Kiril Chapov, Doncho nikolovski, Dragan Velichkovski, Ivan Zhezhovski and Zvonko Majstoroski. |
